Yes. On any dish page, guests can type a special request — for example “no onions” or “sauce on the side” — in the note field before adding the item to the cart.
Special requests travel with the order: they appear on the order card in Current orders and line by line in kitchen view, so the kitchen sees them exactly where the dish is prepared.
Use dish options and modifiers for standard, priced choices like size or extra toppings. Use special requests for one-off notes that do not change the price.
Keep in mind that very long notes slow down the kitchen. Clear option groups usually serve guests better than free text for common customizations.
If a request is impossible or unclear, staff can message the guest directly from the order using the built-in chat before preparing the dish.
Special requests are free text, so guests can also use them for context like “birthday — candle please”. Your team sees these notes at preparation time and can turn a normal order into a small celebration at zero cost. Notes appear exactly once per dish, so the kitchen never confuses which item a request belongs to — a common failure of shouted or handwritten modifications.
